Senior Center activities will be cancelled on days when Region 12 schools are closed because of hazardous travel conditions. School closings are announced on local radio and TV stations.

Fitness/Exercise

Daily at 9:00 a.m. Exercise to video for aerobic workout ~ no fee. Come as often as you like.

Bend and Stretch Clinic for Adults

Beginning on Monday, April 5 thru May 10, 2004 from 9:00am to 10:00am sponsored by the Visiting Nurse and Healthcare Northwest. The program includes balance exercises, weight training, and moving and stretching. There is no charge for this six week program which will be held at the Washington Senior Center . Please call the VNA office at 567-6000 early to register as space is limited.

Health Related Programs

Blood Pressure Screening By Visiting Nurse and Homecare Northwest ~ held monthly on:
The first Tuesday of the each month, 1:00 p.m. at the NewMil Bank on Rt 202 , New Preston.
The first Wednesday of each month, 11:30 - 12:00 noon at the Warren Town Hall lower level.
The third Thursday of each month 11:30-12:30 p.m. at the Senior Center. ~ no fee.

Computer Instruction

One-on-one instruction is available on Wednesdays beginning at 1:00 p.m. ~ Volunteer instructors ~ no fee.

Computer Club

Meets monthly on the third Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. ~ Members share experience and information on all aspects of personal computer use as well as Internet and e-mail support (MSNTV included) ~ no fee.

SeniorNet

Computer training specially designed for the older person who wants to learn more about computers. The New Milford Senior Center hosts the only SeniorNet Computer Center in Litchfield county. For more information call the Center at 355-6075

Pinochle Lessons For Beginners-

Call the Senior Center to sign up.

Bridge Group

Meets weekly on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. with tables planned in advance. New players should call ahead (868-0735) to be included in future games. ~ no fee.

Not Just Quilting.

With instructor Jean Hellyer meets weekly on Thursdays 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. ~ bring any needlework you have in progress ~ no fee. Also on Thursday afternoons...Scrabble or card games alongside the needle workers.

Lunch Club

Meets at the Senior Center at 12:00 noon on the fourth Friday of the month ~ carpool to area restaurant ~ call ahead (868-0735) for details and reservations.

Writer's Workshop

Wednesdays, 10;00-`12:00 noon. Instructor Natalie Bates. Eight week session begins on March 31 thru May 19 2004. Call the Senior Center, 868-0735 for details.

Seniors Living a Quality Life: A Ten Part TV Series.

Ct. Public Television (CPTV/Channe 23) is airing a series at 9:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month thru October. The March 25 episode is "Elder Financial Abuse", followed on April 22 by "Preventing Falls". Flyers are available at the Senior Center.
